Okay maybe I gave reading a shot... Actually I gave it a huge shot. There was a read a thon at the school and I didn't want to look stupid. So I bought a book by Nicholas Sparks, because I know that he writes good books, that have made movies.. So why not give it a shot?.. So I opened the new book, and it didnt have that feeling of "Where the Red Fern Grows".. It was actually good. Let me explain my history that makes me hate to read...
In the 7th grade at the end of the year, we took state tests( the ones with the purple no.2 pencil?), that you always rush through.. well at least I did, until this very moment. You open up the state test and it was on reading, and I never looked forward to the reading section. It was a story about pigs, farms, boring things. Apparently, I sped through the reading section and failed..
HERES the clincher... Because I did not pass that test, I had to take a Reading class during 8th grade while others could do an elective.. like cooking, spanish, etc. If someone would have said that, I would have passed that test. So there you go, thats why I chose not to read.
I was forced to read books that I didn't like and do more homework.. homework, and worksheets on reading, with a teacher named Ms. Nielson. I saw her the next year everyday in the halls, and she always said hi to me , she would call me, "Linda".. I didn't have the heart to tell her, that wasn't my name. It was just awkward.
I finally choose to read, and finished 2 books in two days. I love reading, and I also recommend them. I am reading another book right as we speak.
